Then I went out for a test drive, and was pleasantly surprised with the same "want to go" feeling the car has had since I added the 400 cam. Definitely a good improvement in sound quality, and I would say there was definitely a small reduction in sound volume despite my test driver's opinion. The nice thing is that it really removed a lot of the nasty "raspberries" sound from the exhaust note, and left a much more pleasant, cleaner exhaust note. My wife thought it sounded the exact same.
The results were a little bit disappointing in terms of sound level reduction. This is with mandrel bent 2.25" tubing from the end of the Pacesetter all the way back into the 18" long, oval body Magnaflow muffler. It made a really sweet spot in which to mount the hushpower slightly ahead of the normal end of the down pipe, there's a nice area there that it fits into perfectly.Īnyway, I had my wife do some test runs for me before and after so I could actually hear the car from the outside.
I cut off the last 4 or 5 inches of the down pipe I had made, and the front 6 or so inches of the mid pipe. I ended up cutting the stamped sheet metal thing off just ahead of the first single bolt (and removing that front part). Thanks Owen, how's things on the continent?
